CESR / Portfolio Pathway

Avoiding the Roadblocks on your way to CESR

CESR is a process, a test of your resilience and hardwork. It takes time and it is hard. The process throws us and we often feel lost. How to avoid these and how to get there sooner than later.

Figure 1: How to CESR?

Working on my CESR portfolio and often times when I sit down to work, I don’t know where to start. This is a question which is often put to me and I often find myself answering. For me, the answer is less is more.

Pick one major chunk

I recommend focussing on just one SLO at a time and then divide it into achievable chunks. It has all got to be done and if you have a lot of things, it will definitely overwhelm you, divide it into small doable clear list of things.

Example would be if you are doing SLO1 then it is mainly stable patients, you could have seen them in ED or when you did your medicine posting. You will need a log book for these and you will need to collect your WBPAs. In addition, you might also want to make certain that if you have any SLO1 related feedback, you out it in this folder. So, pick one of these and just parse through and get this done. This would mean 1 less task for the next time.

Be consistent

CESR like any other task is reliant on your doing the work and working on a daily basis would make sure you don’t feel you are starting from zero. I often come back to something after having left it for a few days and it takes me some times just to get my bearings. That is the time you never want to waste. Sit down, think while driving, listen to a related podcast, go through your plan, or have a proper session. Make sure your mind is always running this one tune at all times. You will achieve but you have to do it sooner than later.
